Alternative Application Process

At Antioch University New England, students may qualify for graduate study through a combination of undergraduate study and learning acquired through sustained professional work. In exceptional cases, we admit adults who have not completed their undergraduate degrees but have a minimum of two years of transcripted, accredited college work plus significant educational and professional training (more than 5 years). Applicants must demonstrate that they have the skills, knowledge, and experience to do graduate-level work. Click here to learn more about our alternative application process.

Admissions Process for Degree and Certificate Programs

Master’s and Certificate programs accept applications on a rolling basis, throughout the year. We recommend that you apply well before the application deadline in order to ensure a spot in the term for which you are applying.

Doctoral applications adhere to their own application process and deadlines.

Applicants are only evaluated based on their own application materials. They are not compared to the applications of other candidates. The Admissions Committee endeavors to identify strong candidates for the program and to support them to become students.

Admissions Process for Non-Degree Courses

You can register for a course as a non-matriculated student. Please note: Only six (6) credits taken as a non-matriculated student can be applied towards a master’s degree program. Enrollment into a course as a non-matriculated student is subject to the approval of the academic department in which you are taking the course.

For a complete description of how to enroll as a non-matriculated student, please read the Non-Matriculated Student Enrollment Instructions and Form. Your application should be submitted to the Office of Professional and Continuing Education, and will then be approved by the department chairperson. This faculty member will screen your application to see if your educational background and professional experience meet the prerequisites of the course. If approved, and space permits, you will be admitted to the course. Some of the academic programs restrict entry to their classes to matriculated degree candidate students only. Those classes are noted in the course descriptions under Restrictions.

Courses are offered on a space-available basis in education, environmental studies, management and psychology. Here’s a list of classes open to non-matriculated students.

If you’d like to register for a class from the Academic Catalog that is not on the list for non-matriculated students, you should contact the academic department to request permission to take the course. The catalog lists all courses that are currently considered Active. These classes are not taught every semester,but are normally offered at some time during the academic year.

Non-matriculated students should also be aware that all enrolled students are required to have computers with internet access. Many courses will make extensive use of internet communication, and library services will be provided electronically. Therefore, it is highly recommended that you have regular internet access.
