Kartik Shanker is a Professor at the Centre for Ecological Sciences, Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, where he works on the ecology and evolution of frogs, reptiles, birds, and marine fauna. He has set up long-term monitoring programs for sea turtles, sharks, and rays across the country. Shanker is also a founding trustee of Dakshin Foundation, where he oversees work on marine flagships and community wellbeing and founding editor of the magazine Current Conservation. He is the author of the book From Soup to Superstar, a historical account of sea turtle conservation in India, and has written several children’s books.
