Wednesday, October 9, 4:00 PM – 5:30 PM ET / 1:00 PM – 2:30 PM PT

Come listen and learn with Steven Levitsky, one of the nation’s most recognized political scientists and insightful scholars in the field of democracy studies. During this very special 1.5-hour lecture and Q&A, Steven will discuss the assault on democracy and the rise of authoritarianism here at home. As he sees it, we are at a crossroads: America will either become an inclusive, multiracial democracy or will cease to be a democracy at all. Accordingly, we must do everything we can to democratize our democracy using our scholarship, practice, and activism to reshape the debate and commit ourselves to achieving the democratic ideals to which we aspire. Levitsky, a Harvard professor of government, is coauthor, with Daniel Ziblatt, of two of the most important recent books on the theme, Tyranny of the Minority: Why American Democracy Reached the Breaking Point (2023) and How Democracies Die (2018).

The first 30-45 minutes will be a presentation, followed by a Q&A with attendees.
