In this important pre‐election session, three amazing Antiochians with deep roots in the struggle for voting rights and the civil rights movement will share reflections on that important history and explore lessons for today’s critical election. The connections run deep. Not only is Janet Dewart Bell an alum of Antioch College and University (College ’74, GSLC ’10), David Goodman is a graduate of Antioch College (’69) and the brother of Andrew Goodman, the young civil rights activist murdered in the historic voter registration drive in 1964. David has spent decades in efforts to increase voter registration, particularly among youth. Judy Richardson is a graduate of Antioch Baltimore (’78), a well-known documentary filmmaker (Eyes on the Prize) and former Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC) staffer.
Come hear this historic call for us all to take action to vote—and learn more about what’s at stake! Let’s combat voter suppression efforts in this country and discuss strategies to make “good trouble” (in the words of John Lewis) and get out the vote this November.
