Ashley Hartman, PhD, LCAT, LPC, LMHC, ATR-BC, is an educator, counselor/ art therapist, researcher, and artist. She earned her Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) with a specialization in art therapy from Florida State University. In addition to her Clinical Faculty role at Antioch University New England, she has served as an Assistant Professor of Art Therapy at Marywood University for five years and as an Adjunct Instructor for the University of Osijek, Croatia, and Florida State University. She has 13 years of experience in diverse community based and clinical settings. She is a licensed creative arts therapist (LCAT) in the state of NY, a licensed professional counselor (LPC) in Pennsylvania, a licensed mental health counselor (LMHC) in Florida, and a board credentialed art therapist (ATR-BC).

Dr. Hartman enjoys working with issues including anxiety, grief and loss, exploration of family dynamics and childhood trauma, identity, and relationship issues. Her clinical experiences include inpatient, and outpatient behavioral health, the prison setting, university counseling centers, school-based settings, pediatric and medical settings, and community-based settings.

Dr. Hartman’s scholarly endeavors focus on the areas of museum-based art therapy, intersectional aspects of identity, art therapy with neurodiverse clients, and the integration of Eastern philosophical practices in connection to perception of control, anxiety, and mindfulness, particularly in relationship to medical illness and trauma.
