Caryn has taught in early childhood classrooms in Illinois, Massachusetts, and Washington state. She has taught and supervised in teacher education and masters in education programs at UW Seattle, UW Tacoma, University of Massachusetts Boston, Tufts University, and Antioch University Seattle. Her research centers on children’s understandings about race and ethnicity, and broadens out into the realms of development and learning, family engagement, multicultural curriculum and instruction, English language learning, qualitative research methods, and teacher professional development for equity.
