Elizabeth Benninger, PhD is a psychology instructor with the applied community psychology specialization at Antioch University, Los Angeles, and a research fellow for the Cleveland Alliance for Education Research, a research practice partnership. She also serves as the founder and CEO of Health Minds Healthy Communities Consulting LLC., a business focused on developing creative solutions to community health, healing, and wellness. She has a masters in psychology with a specialization in community psychology from Antioch University, Los Angeles, and a Doctoral degree in psychology from the University of the Western Cape, Cape Town, South Africa.
Her research interests include the study of children’s well-being, participatory research approaches, and community health promotion. Her work additionally focuses on building collaborations with a number of nonprofit and nongovernmental organizations within South Africa and the United States, which specifically focus on improving the well-being of children within communities facing challenges related to unjust systems which perpetuate poverty and violence.
