I view the classroom as a sacred, inspirational, and inclusive space, and I seek to make it safe for any student who chooses to join me on their journey to reach their potential. The students tend to teach me as much as I teach them, and I look forward to the exchange we will have each and every time the class gathers. I understand how brave it is to walk through the door or link onto Zoom because of economic and learning challenges, food insecurities, or psychological or community pressures.

My industry needs to make room for storytellers with diverse backgrounds, and in a way, this is me doing my part to ensure there are pathways for those storytellers. I make it a point to reach the students where they are and to provide them with any resources they may need. Ultimately, I want my students to feel seen and to be successful in their academic career and beyond.
