Clinical Psychology

Kate has her undergraduate degree from Colby-Sawyer College with a double major in English literature and education, having written a senior thesis on the use of metaphor to teach empathy. This was followed by a master's of special education from Portland State University in Portland, OR, with a master's thesis study on positive behavior interventions in schools. She began at Antioch University New England in 2017 and obtained a masters in clinical psychology in 2020 and her doctorate in 2022 with a qualitative dissertation on the caregiver's experience of voice and choice in wraparound systems of care.

I often start classes by inviting students to offer their half-finished thoughts and to say things imperfectly, as being willing to take intellectual and emotional risks creates space for the richest learning opportunities. I believe we owe it to our future clients not only to maintain a high degree of competence in this work but also to know ourselves deeply and honestly to better understand how we show up in the work as well. I hope to create a learning atmosphere that embraces this dialectic of high expectations with room for ongoing evolution.
